Why I'm Running for Re-Election as Mayor of Marshall

Why I'm Running for Re-Election as Mayor of Marshall

Eight Years ago, I made the decision to run for Marshall City Council because I care deeply about this community.  Marshall has been my home for nearly all of my life.  It is where my family has roots, where lifelong friendships have been formed, and where generations have worked together to create a city we are proud to call home.

When I first sought public office, my goal was simple: to serve the community that has given so much to me.  I wanted to be part of helping Marshall continue to thrive while preserving our unique character, charm, history, and values that make out city special.  That commitment has not changed.

Serving on the City Council and later as your mayor has given me a unique opportunity to see our community at its absolute best. I have witnessed neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers dedicating countless hours to worthy causes, local businesses investing millions in our future, and residents who care deeply about the direction of our city.  Marshall is filled with people who are passionate about where we live, and I am grateful to have served this community along side them.

The responsibilities of local government are not always easy.  Every decision comes with differing opinions, competing priorities, and long-term consequences.  While we may not always agree on every issue, I believe effective leadership requires listening, respecting different viewpoints, and making decision based on what is best for Marshall both today and for generations to come.

That is one of the reasons I have often said that the mayor should be Marshall's biggest cheerleader.

Being Marshall's biggest cheerleader means celebrating our successes while remaining honest about our challenges.  It means supporting responsible growth, encouraging investment in our community, and helping create opportunities for families, businesses, and future generations.  It means representing our city with pride and optimism wherever the opportunity arises.  Most importantly, it means putting Marshall first.

Over the past several years, our community has faced important decisions that will shape our future.  Some have generated enthusiasm, and others have sparked spirited debate.  Through it all, I have remained focused on what I believe matters most: maintaining transparency, listening to residents, and ensuring that Marshall remains a community where people want to live, work, raise families, and build there futures.

As I look ahead, I see a city with tremendous potential.  I see opportunities for economic growth, continued investment in our neighborhoods, support for our local businesses, and thoughtful planning that prioritizes our historic preservation.  I believe our best days are still ahead, but realizing that future will require steady leadership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the community we all love.

That is why I am running for re-election as Mayor of Marshall.

I am not running because the work is finished.  I am running because I believe there is still important work to do.  I remain committed to listening, serving, and working every day to help move Marshall forward.  I remain committed to positivity, transparency, and respectful leadership.  Most of all, I remain committed to Marshall.

It has been my absolute honor to serve as Mayor of this amazing city and I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our community.

For Mayor.  For Marshall.
